Tile size is important for beautiful outcome and functionality in different rooms. Here are the tile sizes in our standard quotes.

If you want larger tiles than what we listed below, keep in mind that it will require more effort to handle and install. So, there will be a small additional charge to cover those costs.

Living Room, Bedroom and Kitchen Floors

Tiles up to 600x600mm are ideal. They provide a clean, modern look and commonly chosen for these areas in Singapore.

Bathroom Floors

For bathroom, size is up to 300x600mm. This helps to create the necessary gradient for water to flow efficiently toward the floor trap, preventing water from pooling in your bathroom.

Bathroom and Kitchen Walls

For bathroom walls, you can choose up to 600x600mm. They are large enough for style, but not too heavy visually.

How To Choose Tiles

Tile color and texture can make a big impact on the overall feel of your space. It is worth taking the time to consider your options carefully.

Room Size

Lighter colors tend to make smaller rooms feel larger and more open, while darker colors can create a cozy and intimate atmosphere in larger rooms.

Lighting Conditions

The lighting in a room can significantly affect how tiles look. If your space gets a lot of natural light, the true color of the tiles will be more visible throughout the day.

However, artificial light, whether warm or cool, can change the appearance of the tiles. Consider how the tiles will look in different lighting conditions.

Match with Your Decor

Choose tiles that complement your existing furniture and decor. Neutral tones work well with almost any color scheme. If you are feeling bold, can opt for contrasting colors to make a statement.

Choose the Right Texture

For living areas, smooth tiles can create a sleek and refined look.

In bathrooms and kitchens, get textured or matte tiles, which provide better grip and reduce the risk of slipping.

Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing Tiles

Selecting the wrong tiles can lead to unnecessary issues. Avoid these common mistakes:

  • Choosing Glossy Tiles for Wet Areas: Glossy tiles are slippery when wet. Avoid using them for bathroom or kitchen floors. Matte or textured tiles provide better traction.
  • Ignoring Tile Size in Small Spaces: Large tiles can overwhelm a small room, making the space feel cramped. Get smaller tiles in compact areas to create a balanced look.
  • Overlooking Durability: It is easy to focus on appearance, but durability is equally important, especially in high-traffic areas. Always choose tiles that are suitable for the wear and tear they will face.
  • Skipping Tile Samples: Always request a tile sample before making a final decision. This allows you to see how the tile will look in your space, under your lighting conditions.

Maintenance Tips for Your Tiles

Once your tiles are installed, proper maintenance will ensure they remain in great condition for years to come. Here are some essential tile care tips:

  • General Cleaning: For everyday cleaning, we recommend using a gentle floor cleaner combined with warm water. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the tile surface or grout.
  • Grout Cleaning: Grout lines can accumulate dirt over time. To keep them looking fresh, use a grout cleaner or a simple mixture of water and vinegar to scrub between the tiles.
  • Preventing Scratches: Placing rugs in high-traffic areas and using furniture pads under heavy furniture will prevent scratches and wear on your tiles.
  • Sealing Porous Tiles: If you have chosen natural stone tiles or other porous materials, it’s important to seal them. Sealing prevents stains and water damage, keeping your tiles looking as good as new. Depending on the type of tile, sealing should be done every 1-2 years.
